On Saturday, February 18, the Scholar Knights won the 34th Annual Illinois Masonic Academic Bowl Class 2A Sectional Tournament with an undefeated 6-0 record for the day!  In pool play, the Knights defeated the following opponents: Gibault 310-180, Vandalia 320-160, Greenville 290-230, and Nashville 320-170.  As a result, they advanced to the four-team single-elimination finals.  In the semi-final match, Mater Dei defeated Freeburg 300-180.  The Knights then faced Wesclin in the championship.  In an exciting match that included a tie and two lead changes, the Knights defeated the Warriors 240-190.

Ethan Schumacher led the Scholar Knights with a total of nineteen toss ups, followed by Ben Logullo (18), John Hund (16), Nick Toennies (6), Jaden Meadows (1), and Alex Norris (1).  Taylor Goring and Anna Klostermann also contributed to the victories.

The Scholar Knights, sponsored by the Red Bud Masonic Lodge, will compete in the Illinois Masonic Academic Bowl Class 2A State Championship in Bloomington on March 4.  The Scholar Knights, now 56-1 on the season, look to capture the Metro East Quad League postseason crown on Thursday, February 23, where they will compete against Belleville West (host), Alton, and Althoff.
