Join us in congratulating our boys golf team for winning the IHSA Class 1A Regional at Roland Barkau Memorial Golf Course on October 6, 2020, with a team score of 289!

Following a three-man playoff, Ian Berndsen (69) earned medalist honors, and Carter Goebel (69) earned 2nd. Remaining team scores were Blake Kloeckner 75 for 6th, Alden Moss 76 for 8th, Ayden Frickleton 83 for 12th, and Garett Zurliene 84 for 14th.

With this title, our Golf Knights have won five regional titles in the last seven seasons.

The team’s season then concluded at the IHSA Class 1A Sectional at Franklin County Country Club on October 13, 2020.  With a team score 316, the Knights earned second place, only six strokes behind first place.  Team scores were Carter Goebel 78, Zander Brueggemann 78, Blake Kloeckner 80, Ayden Frickleton 80, Ian Berndsen 81, and Alden Moss 83.

Traditionally, the second-place sectional finish would have earned the team a trip to the IHSA State Tournament, but the tournament was canceled due to concerns related to COVID-19.  The state trip would have been the second-straight for our Golf Knights, the 2019 IHSA Class 1A State Champions, and the sixth trip in Mater Dei’s history.

We thank the players, coach Parker Lawrence, and the parents for their dedication!
