The administration and faculty are pleased to announce the Students of the Quarter for the second quarter of the 2021-2022 academic year.  These students were selected by the administration and faculty from the list of students who earned high honor roll or honor roll recognition.  Please join us in congratulating them and their families!

 

Senior Maxwell Morton, the son of Craig and Teresa Morton of Salem.  Throughout his academic career, Max has enrolled in all honors courses for English, math, and science, including English Composition 101, English Composition 102, Physics Honors, and Pre-Calculus as a senior.  For his academic achievements, Max earned recognition as an Illinois State Scholar, two academic letters, and an award for Theology III.  Outside the classroom, he is a four-year member of the newspaper staff and Scholar Bowl; a three-year member of National Honor Society; and a two-year member of the Academic Challenge in Engineering and Science (ACES) team, Book Club, Science Club, and Spanish Club.  Finally, Max is a member of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church.  Following graduation, he plans to attend Colorado School of Mines and to pursue a degree in computer science.

 

Senior Maya VanDorn, the daughter of Erick and Michelle VanDorn of Breese.  Throughout her academic career, Maya has enrolled in all but one honors course for English, math, and science, including Calculus, English Composition 101, English Composition 102, and Physics Honors as a senior.  For her academic achievements, Maya earned recognition as an Illinois State Scholar, two academic letters, and awards for Geometry, Health, Physical Science Honors, Pre-Calculus, and Theology I.  Outside the classroom, she is a four-year member of cheerleading; a three-year member of National Honor Society; a two-year member of Art Club; and a first-year member of St. Vincent de Paul Society, Spanish Club, and Student Ambassadors.  For cheerleading, Maya earned the Most Improved Award as a freshman.  Finally, she is a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church.  Following graduation, Maya plans to attend University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and to pursue a degree in biomedical engineering.

 

Junior Jacob Hustedde, the son of Neil and Carol Hustedde of Breese.  Since his freshman year, Jacob has enrolled in all honors courses for math and science, including Chemistry Honors and Pre-Calculus as a junior.   For his academic achievements, Jacob received an award for Spanish III.  Outside the classroom, he is a three-year member of the baseball team, the basketball team, and Pep Club; and a two-year member of National Honor Society.  Finally, Jacob is a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church and Breese Youth Ministry.

 

Junior Madison Eversgerd, the daughter of Brad and Leslie Eversgerd of Aviston.  Since her freshman year, Madison has enrolled in college-preparatory courses.  Outside the classroom, she is a three-year member of the basketball team, for which she serves as a co-captain, and the soccer team; a two-year member of the spring musical cast; and a first-year member of Art Club, Pep Club, and Student Ambassadors.  Finally, Madison is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, where she serves as a parish picnic volunteer.

 

Sophomore Garrett Arentsen, the son of Ron and Leigh Ann Arentsen of Germantown.  In both his freshman and sophomore year, Garrett has enrolled in all honors courses for English and science, including Biology Honors and English II Honors, as well as Algebra II & Trigonometry Honors, as a sophomore.  Outside the classroom, he is a two-year member of the fall play tech crew, Scholar Bowl, and the spring musical tech crew; and a first-year member of Science Club, Student Ambassadors, and Student Council.  In addition, he is a member of Aviston Aces 4-H Club and Clinton County 4-H Federation.  Finally, Garrett is a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.

 

Sophomore Annabella Triplett, the daughter of Henry and Casey Triplett of O’Fallon.  In both her freshman and sophomore year, Annabella has enrolled in all honors courses for English and science, including Biology Honors and English II Honors, as well as Algebra II & Trigonometry Honors, as a sophomore.  For her academic achievements, Annabella received awards for American Government, Geometry, Health, and Spanish III.  Outside the classroom, Annabella is a two-year member of cheerleading and Spanish Club; and a first-year member of St. Vincent de Paul Society, for which she serves as secretary, Student Ambassadors, and Student Council.  For Student Ambassadors, she received an award as an honorary member her freshman year.  Finally, Annabella is a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church.

 

Freshman Robert Klostermann, the son of Michael and Lori Klostermann of Breese.  In his first year at Mater Dei, Robert’s courses include English I Honors, Geometry Honors, and Physical Science Honors.  Outside the classroom, he is a member of concert band, the fall play cast, indoor percussion, marching band, pep band, and the spring musical cast.  Finally, Robert is a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, where he serves as a choir member and a server.

 

Freshman Ella Detmer, the daughter of Eric and Christina Detmer of Breese.  In her first year at Mater Dei, Ella’s courses include English I Honors and Physical Science Honors.  Outside the classroom, she is a member of Book Club, chorus, concert band, the fall play cast, Liturgical Music Group, and the spring musical cast.  Finally, Ella is a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, where she serves as a cantor.
